Mom's Tamarind Date Chutney

Fun fact: I never eat the green chutney with my samosa. The red one's always had my heart. We started making our own tamarin date chutney at home and it is a whole different level. The store bought one always had this artificial taste that completely disappears in the homemade version.



Ingredients

  • 2 c dates

  • 1/4 c tamarind

  • 1 c jaggery

  • 1 t red chili powder

  • Salt

  • Water


Directions

  1. Rinse the dates and tamarind. Remove tamarind seeds.

  2. Microwave dates and tamarind in water for 3 minutes in 1 minute intervals. Remove tamarind fibers. Add jaggery and mix.

  3. Blend mixture until smooth.

  4. Mix chili powder and salt.
