Fun fact: I never eat the green chutney with my samosa. The red one's always had my heart. We started making our own tamarin date chutney at home and it is a whole different level. The store bought one always had this artificial taste that completely disappears in the homemade version.
Ingredients
2 c dates
1/4 c tamarind
1 c jaggery
1 t red chili powder
Salt
Water
Directions
Rinse the dates and tamarind. Remove tamarind seeds.
Microwave dates and tamarind in water for 3 minutes in 1 minute intervals. Remove tamarind fibers. Add jaggery and mix.
Blend mixture until smooth.
Mix chili powder and salt.
