I'm always cautious when I say the word 'biscuit' at home. 90% of the time Bella comes running towards me, eyes hopeful and tail wagging. It's near impossible to say no to her eager face, so I am conscious using the b-word.
We love our dogs and we love making them happy (obviously through the form of food). Store bought dog treats often have preservatives and other scary ingredients, so I was delighted to find out you can make them at home. I've been making them every other week since March, and Bella is a loyal fan. You can customize the biscuits based on your dog's preferences by changing the flavors and adding fiber.

Ingredients
Makes 40 biscuits
1 egg
1/4 c of dog-friendly flavoring (see above)
1 c flour
1/2 c rolled oats (optional, but good for digestion)
1 T peanut butter (optional)
Water (up to 1/4 c)
Directions
Lightly beat the egg in a large bowl. Mix in flavoring, flour, oats, and peanut butter.
Mix dough together to the best of your ability. The final result should be a dough that is not sticky, easily holds its shape, and resembles sugar cookie dough. Add in water 1 T at a time to make the dough soft if needed. The amount of water depends on the moisture content of the flavoring. Too much water leads to sticky dough, which will be hard to work with.
Roll out dough so it is 1/4 inch thick. Use a 1 - 1 1/2 inch cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits. If you do not have a cookie cutter, use a knife to cut the dough into squares.
Place biscuits on a lined baking tray. Bake at 350˚F for 20 minutes.
Store biscuits in the refrigerator once they have completely cool for up to 1 month.
