Cinnamon Rolls

Dough

  • 1/4 c melted butter

  • 1 c warm whole milk (microwave 30 seconds, sub 2%)

  • 1/4 c sugar

  • 1 1/8 t active dry yeast

  • 2 1/2 c flour

  • 1/2 t baking powder

  • 1 t salt

Filling

  • 1/3 c softened butter

  • 1/3 c brown sugar

  • 1 T cinnamon

Frosting

  • 2 oz cream cheese

  • 1 T melted butter

  • 1 T whole milk (sub 2%)

  • 1/2 t vanilla

  • 1/3 c powdered sugar


Directions

  1. Mix warm milk, melted butter, and granulated sugar.

  2. Sprinkle yeast evenly over warm milk mixture and let sit for 10 minutes.

  3. Mix in 2 c flour into the milk mixture.

  4. Cover bowl and let sit for 1 hour in a warm area until dough has doubled. Take out the butter for the filling to allow it to soften.

  5. Add remaining flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well, turn dough out onto a well-floured surface.

  6. Knead dough lightly.

  7. Roll dough into a 1/2 inch thick rectangle. Make corners as sharp as possible.

  8. Spread softened butter evenly.

  9. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Press into butter.

  10. Roll dough into a log and cut into 12 even pieces.

  11. Place rolls onto a buttered 9x13 pan. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise 30 minutes.

  12. Bake at 350˚F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

  13. Frosting: mix together cream cheese, butter, milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar until smooth.

  14. Drizzle frosting onto cinnamon rolls.
