This morning I made the best french toast I have ever made. I lost my recipe card that I normally use to make french toast, and decided to make something new - and it worked very well. It was perfectly soft with a slightly crunchy outside and the right amount of sweetness to compliment the bananas, a win for a die-hard french toast fan like myself.

Ingredients
2 large slices of sourdough bread (sub 3-4 slices sandwich bread)
2 eggs
2 T milk
1/4 t vanilla extract
1/2 t cinnamon
1/8 t nutmeg
1 T brown sugar + little extra for bananas
Butter
1 banana
Directions
Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
Slice sourdough in half. Soak each half in egg mixture.
Heat an iron skillet to medium heat and coat with butter. Cook the soaked bread until it has a dark golden color.
Slice bananas into 1/4-inch circles. Heat a non-stick frying pan to low heat and coat with butter and sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar. Caramelize the banana slices until golden. Add more butter and sugar for more syrupy caramelized bananas.
Top french toast with caramelized banana.
